Profile
Marty grew up in Midvale, Utah. His love of sports started at an early age and has always played a big role in his life.
As a sports parent, Marty helped his kids love and respect their sport while playing at a very high level. His oldest son Tyler was an All-American in college and the all-time leading scorer (basketball) in BYU history before playing five-years professionally. His next son TJ is the all-time leader at BYU (basketball) in consecutive games started (133), number two all-time in assists, and number seven in scoring, before becoming an Academic All-American his senior year. TJ plays professionally in the NBA G League. Marty’s daughter Gabriella is a sophomore playing volleyball at Northwest Nazarene University.
The three kids have brought home nine state-championships (six basketball and three volleyball) and one National Championship (basketball) at Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah. Marty’s three kids played multiple sports growing up before deciding what they wanted to play in high school and college.
Marty played four sports at Hillcrest High School in Midvale, Utah. Marty was a high school All-American in football and basketball while also playing on the state championship baseball (center-fielder) and track teams (state champion 100-meter). Marty decided to play basketball and run track at BYU, where he was an all-conference basketball player and placed fifth in the 100-meter dash while running the first leg of an All-American 4x100 relay team his freshman year.
Marty has been involved in technology companies for most of his professional career. He was also a partner in the ‘I Won’t Cheat!’ foundation, a non-profit, character education foundation for kids. Today, Marty is the EVP at Mountain Star Payment Processing and the Head of Coaching for the Mountain Stars AAU Basketball Club.
Marty is married to the love of his life Tiffanie (33 years). They met in college and started their family while Marty was playing professionally in Belgium. Tiffanie and Marty have been a team, each playing their important roles, through all the peaks and valleys of being a sports parent.
